The primary objective of a webpage dedicated to computer science courses is to foster a sense of empathy and understanding between professors and students navigating waitlists. The webpage serves as a virtual bridge, connecting these two essential components of the educational process. By providing a platform that communicates the challenges and aspirations of both professors and students, it cultivates a mutual understanding of the dynamics surrounding course availability. Through thoughtful content and interactive features, the webpage can humanize the experience of being on a waitlist, offering insights into the constraints faced by professors and the eagerness of students to enroll in sought-after computer science courses. This empathetic approach not only acknowledges the frustrations inherent in the registration process but also promotes a collaborative atmosphere where both parties work towards a common goal of enhancing the learning experience.
We belive that the personification of humans as animals provides an effective viusal gap between professors and students at the University of Virginia department of computer science. Using data pulled from the Student Information System (SIS) a realtime dashboard of what could have been is presented. These students have done nothing wrong execept being born too early or recieving a dose of bad luck when the registrar generates the "random" numbers which can determine a student's fate.
Please contact your local computer science professor to put an end to this tragedy so that no more animals must be seen on this page.
Additional context from the professor's perspective was requested. To wit, the a visualization representing Professor Sherriff's email:
On an unreleated site note, I am trying to get a repo to 75 stars to add it to homebrew. So, if you could star the repository, that would be nice
